This is a very small and basic vertical space shooter game, where you blast asteroids and get points for it. 

ASTRO BURST was done over a single weekend as a personal challenge. The challenge was to complete a game using LÖVE.

LÖVE, or love2d, is a framework to program games from scratch with lua. 

I think it's very aptly named, as the experience was quite lovely. Defintiely, I recommend giving it a try if programming games from scratch interests you.

This is the third game I've finished. It was a nice learning experience. However, I think I'll leave this type of developments for tiny projects only.

HOW TO PLAY THE GAME: 

Control your ship with WASD or arrow keys.

Press SPACE to shoot.

Collect powerups to gain special abilities and to recharge your ENG (energy) and SHD (shield).

The game ends when your ENG or SHD deplete completely. 

You can press ESC at any momento to go back to the main menu.

NOTE: the game is only available for 64 bit windows.

KNOWN BUGS

I've had the game randomly crash a few times. It's something about the collision detection. Trying to detect collision with an object that doesn't exist.

I don't know what that object is, why it's getting deleted, or how to fix it. It happens so infrequently that I wasn't able to detect a pattern.

If it happens to you, just close the game window.
